Nascida e criada no Rio de Janeiro, desde a inf\u00e2ncia Celia estava imersa no mundo do Candombl\u00e9 (religi\u00e3o afro-brasileira), nas escolas de samba, bossa nova, choro, bai\u0101o, frevo e m\u00fasica ind\u00edgena, al\u00e9m de movimentos como a Tropicalia e revolucion\u00e1rios pol\u00edticos. Aos 18 anos, Celia estava se sustentando completamente atrav\u00e9s da m\u00fasica: compondo, tocando em festivais, produ\u00e7\u00f5es teatrais, boates, programas de r\u00e1dio e TV, fazendo trilhas sonora de filmes, ensinando m\u00fasica e liderando bandas tocando musica autoral.<\/p>

After moving to the States, she began to perform and compete in San Francisco’s popular street carnaval, and garnered many music awards. For thirteen years, she was the musical director, arranger, and performer of the Brazilian All Star Big Band at San Francisco’s annual Carnaval Ball, featuring such performers as Elza Soares, Emilinha Borba, and Walter Wanderley. With her own band she has performed throughout the U.S. at venues which include the Monterey and San Francisco Jazz Festivals where she opened for Santana, Tony Bennett, the Modern Jazz Quartet and the late Ray Charles.<\/p>

Celia fez turn\u00eas pela Europa, Estados Unidos, Am\u00e9rica do Sul e \u00c1sia como artista solo e tamb\u00e9m com a banda, tRIO. Foi contratada para escrever pe\u00e7as musicais para: Wheaton College Choir e Akat Dance Company. Celia da palestras, cl\u00ednicas e cursos em todo o mundo. Participou como compositora residente no OMI International Music Program em Nova York e duas vezes como artista residente no Wheaton College, em Massachusetts.<\/p>

Por muitas d\u00e9cadas, Celia tem se dedicado a conscientizar o mundo sobre a situa\u00e7\u00e3o dos povos ind\u00edgenas da Amaz\u00f4nia, fazendo shows multi-m\u00eddia, composi\u00e7\u00f5es e participando de expedi\u00e7\u00f5es amaz\u00f4nicas. Seu \u00faltimo CD \u00e9 Amazoom. Trabalho inspirado nas lendas sagradas dos povos ind\u00edgenas da Amaz\u00f4nia. Seu trabalho recente inclui duas pe\u00e7as sinfonicas originais e composi\u00e7\u00f5es de guitarra solo.<\/p>

Seus CDs s\u0101o: Sempre Crescendo, com Hermeto Pascoal e Cenario Brasileiro, com Jo\u0101o Bosco. Ambos os discos foram compostos e produzidos por Celia no Brasil em seu selo Sempre Crescendo Music. Para cada disco, Celia trouxe mais de 50 m\u00fasicos. Sempre Crescendo<\/em>, featuring Hermeto Pascoal and Cenario Brasileiro, <\/em>featuring Jo\u00e3o Bosco. Both records, were composed and produced by Celia in Brazil on her label Sempre Crescendo Music. For each record, Celia brought in over 50 musicians.<\/p>

O CD de estreia do tRIO, uma colabora\u00e7\u00e3o de tr\u00eas compositores\/m\u00fasicos, \u00e9 intitulado After the Carnaval. Ele apresenta Thomas Clausen; piano, Carlos Malta; sopros e Celia; voz, viol\u00e3o e percuss\u00e3o. O CD foi produzido por Celia para o selo dinamarqu\u00eas Stunt, Sun Dance Music. After the Carnaval<\/em>. It features Thomas Clausen; piano, Carlos Malta; woodwinds and Celia; voice, guitar and percussion. The CD was produced by Celia for the Danish label Stunt, Sun Dance Music.<\/p>
